Questions & answers
How does Vectuel produce large-scale 3D city models?
“Vectuel's specialty is the production of textured LOD 2.2 3D cities from aerial photographs. These models are not simple static exports: they are structured like an administrable database, which makes it possible to update the digital twin over time and to accurately project the future state of an area — both in aerial and pedestrian views.”
How does Vectuel enrich 3D data at ground level?
“Beyond the aerial model, Vectuel offers ground-level enrichment to achieve a level of detail suitable for pedestrian urban visualization. This includes mapping photo reports onto facades for an accurate representation of existing structures, modeling 3D site plans and roadways while respecting the actual topography, as well as integrating elements of street furniture and vegetation.”
What is Vectuel's 3D Studio?
“Vectuel's 3D Studio is a visual production studio specializing in the representation of the city and its transformations. It produces photorealistic images, animated films, and real-time sequences to showcase the city of the future — whether it is a real estate development, a transport infrastructure, public facilities, or an urban planning project.”
What types of projects does Vectuel's 3D Studio handle?
“Vectuel's 3D Studio works on a wide spectrum of projects, always anchored in their connection to the city and urban environment. In residential and commercial real estate, it produces visuals and promotional films for developments such as Eria, Woodwork, Treehouse, or 7ème Sens.”
Which rendering technologies does Vectuel's 3D Studio use?
“Vectuel’s 3D Studio uses V-Ray as its go-to rendering engine for high-end productions — still images and animated sequences — delivering architectural-level realism with precise handling of materials, light, and atmospheres.”
What is Urban Mappr?
“Urban Mappr is a web platform for distributing 3D models and digital twins to the general public. It allows any visitor to explore a territory, a neighborhood, or an urban project in 3D directly from a browser, without any installation or plugin.”
Is Urban Mappr suitable for large-scale digital twin projects?
“Urban Mappr is designed for large-scale projects. For the Société du Grand Paris, the platform displays more than 2 million 3D buildings with 150,000 unique visitors per month. For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it welcomed 12 million unique visitors in 2 months. For 2IN by Colas, it renders more than 1 million infrastructure points worldwide.”
Is it easy to manage Urban Mappr on a daily basis?
“Urban Mappr integrates an administration interface designed for business teams. Without any technical skills, administrators can update content, manage 3D layers, configure views, and publish changes in real time.”
