Questions & answers
How long has Syntax Motion existed?
“Syntax Motion has worked out of Vienna since 2026. We are seven permanent people, plus freelance specialists per project. We have specialised in video production with generative AI from the start.”
Do you only work with AI?
“Image and motion are mostly generated. Concept, direction, editing, colour and sound are done by people. When real people or places have to be visible, we combine the AI production with a short shoot, filmed by Dean Rocinante himself.”
Where are you based?
“We are based in Vienna's tenth district, Erlachgasse 53-57/6/2. That is our only office, not the limit of where we work. We produce for clients across the German-speaking region and beyond, and we travel to shoots wherever they are. Everything else, from the briefing to the final approval, works remotely.”
How many attempts does a finished film take?
“For every shot we use, at least five are discarded. A minute of film takes around a hundred generations. That selection is the part of the work you never see in the result and the part that decides its quality.”
Can an AI brand film show our real team?
“Not without real footage. We do not generate convincing likenesses of real people without their consent and without labelling. For your team we recommend a short shoot that we combine with AI scenes.”
What does it cost to have a brand film made?
“With us a brand film starts at 3,500 € net. Short cutdowns for the feed, made from that film, start at 1,000 € net.”
Is a brand film worth it for a small company?
“Yes, and with AI production more than before. The part that made conventional brand films unaffordable for companies on a small budget was the shoot day. Take that away and what remains is concept, production and edit, and that scales with the length, not with the size of the company.”
What does a brand film agency do that a freelancer does not?
“As a brand film agency we take the whole chain: script, visual language, production, sound, edit and delivery in all formats, with fixed approval points in between. You have one contact instead of several trades. On very small projects a single person can be enough; with several formats and language versions the coordination quickly becomes the real work.”
Do I speak to Damir directly in the first call?
“Yes. He runs the first call himself, including on small projects. The colleagues who build the film join afterwards.”
Who decides the price?
“He does. Every offer and fixed price crosses his desk, so when you ask why something costs what it costs, the answer comes from the person accountable for it.”
How quickly do we get an offer?
“Usually within two working days of the first call, a little later for larger projects with several formats. We name the date in the call.”
